Dr. Edmund Charles Eckstein
Born and raised in Metropolitan New York, Dr Eckstein received his Bachelors Degree in Biological Sciences in 1966 from Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey, and his Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree in 1972 from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (now Rutgers School of Dental Medicine) in Newark, New Jersey. In 1975 he established his own private general dental practice in Tenafly, New Jersey, which he maintained for 30 years. During that time in Bergen County, he had full admitting privileges at Englewood Hospital in Englewood, New Jersey, where he was active in hospital-based dental care. He also served as Co-Director of the Handicapped Dental Program at Holy Name Hospital in Teaneck, New Jersey, where he provided dental treatment in the Operating Rooms of the hospital. He was the founder of Healthcare Affiliates, Inc, a forensic consulting firm providing consultants and expert witnesses to private attorneys and dental boards throughout the United States. He was a lecturer in risk management, and authored a course entitled “Dentistry and the Law,” presented to dental and legal professionals throughout the United States, as well as being a consultant in forensic dentistry to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for the City of New York. He was a Dental Officer (GS13) in the Department of Health and Human Services, served for two months at the World Trade Center attack of 9/11, and was a founding forensic dental/odontology consultant for the Department of Homeland Security, established subsequent to the attack on the World Trade Center on 9/11/01. He has a total of 25 publications and presentations of learned treatises and book chapters.
After merging his private general dental practice with another, Dr Eckstein moved to Upstate New York to continue his dental career on a significantly less hectic basis. His primary diversion is motorcycle riding and touring over the many serpentine roads that this area has to offer, very often accompanied by his wife Jeanne, an avid motorcycle enthusiast in her own right. When not on two wheels, you will often find them on two legs, hiking and enjoying the beautiful scenery and terrain of Upstate New York and the rest of the world.
